The design draws inspiration from the original agricultural building, creating a contemporary aesthetic which nonetheless harmonises with the older parts through a thoughtful selection of aspect and materiality. The renovation prioritises an abundance of natural light and seamless spatial flow as the modern extension complements the character and elegance of the original structure and celebrates the views onto the beautifully curated, Japanese-style garden.

The glazed link between the extension and existing home creates a functional and visually distinct connection between old and new, and links both to the surrounding garden. Incorporating biophilic design principles successfully creates a space and ambience to promote wellbeing and peaceful enjoyment in this hidden oasis within a London neighbourhood.
