Lark’s Barn

The combination of the original, historic beams set against sleek Crittall-style glazed partitions creates a striking contrast between old and new, enhancing the architectural character of the space. A thoughtful juxtaposition amplifies the sense of openness and flow, while allowing natural light to filter throughout the home.

From the outset, the design intent for Lark's Barn focused on creating an energy-efficient and environmentally conscious conversion. Key sustainable features include fully insulating the external envelope of the building and installing an air source heat pump to reduce energy consumption. Wherever possible, original materials and beams were preserved, reducing waste and maintaining the barn's historical integrity, while incorporating modern technologies to future [proof this design for further generations.
