This imaginative conversion of a seventeenth-century heritage property has transformed a neglected agricultural building into a characterful home. The authentic design unites a contemporary interior with a restored 400-year-old oak frame and thatch roof.

The fragile condition of the building meant we worked closely with structural engineers and local conservation officers, taking care to document every centimetre of the barn’s ancient frame. We used non-contact laser scanning technology to accurately test the impact of design before implementing it – saving time, costs and resources.

The exposed oak frame creates an impressive framework for the double-height kitchen living spaces, embracing the barn's history while adding a contemporary twist throughout the interior design of the space. As a result the project perfectly blends old and new, providing a light-filled home for comfortable family living.

The bathroom/wet room provides a welcoming ambiance, retaining the authenticity of the original Cotswold stone and beams while ensuring the space is both functional and aesthetically pleasing in its design.
