Wellness in Home Spa and Gym Design.
The trend toward creating sumptuous home spas is rapidly gaining momentum, and we find ourselves increasingly aiding our clients in envisioning their serene retreats and wellness havens.
Our clients frequently find inspiration in the lavish experiences of luxury hotel getaways and spa retreats, which motivate them to create opulent home spaces that evoke the same feelings of wellness and harmony.
Our approach at HollandGreen centers on crafting spaces which achieve equilibrium, restfulness and wellbeing. Through a detailed collaborative consideration with our clients, we look at function, form and a seamless integration of natural materials to realise meticulously designed spaces.
Below are two idyllic home spas currently in the design phase, which, if you have an old barn, outbuilding, or a vacant plot yearning for a spa transformation, could ignite your inspiration and assist in shaping your personalised wellness haven.
Maplehurst House Home Spa.
Nestled within a conservation area in the Cotswolds, this esteemed Grade II* listed residence melds modern luxury with historical charm as it undergoes a full renovation. The property will feature a new indoor pool and spa suite, complemented by guest accommodation.
A pivotal aspect of the restoration involves the conversion of two disused outbuildings and a barn into pool and spa suite, distinctively contemporary in aesthetic yet true to their heritage form. The complex is arrived at from a Cotswolds Stone laid path from the main house, and links on to guest accommodation and an entertaining-cum-party barn. In front of the barn, our landscaping design includes a natural pool and decking seating surrounded by masses of native flowering plants and shrubs.
The pool and spa barn takes its inspiration from hotel The Newt’s pool complex, with a waterfall wall and exposed brickwork meeting Crittall floor-to-ceiling glazing along its length. A vaulted beamed ceiling houses a mezzanine-glazed steam room at one end, and all combine together to create a rejuvenating, wellness home spa which maximises comfort with some opulent touches.
Kingbury House Lower Ground Gym and Spa.
Situated in Berkshire, this sophisticated, contemporary new home with spa will exude urban tranquillity, combining luxury materials, modern functionality, and exquisite craftsmanship in every detail. This is a grown up space for reflection and rejuvenation.
The gym, pool and spa is situated on the lower ground floor, accessed by a cantilevered natural stone staircase and with full height glazing across the width of the pool overlooking the secluded gardens. Our interior design scheme incorporates natural materials to create a timeless feel, combining timber, polished concrete and natural stone. These organic materials will enhance the restful mood and acoustics of the fitness sanctuary, together with adjustable, ambient lighting and an innovative lightwell bringing in natural light from above to play on the surface of the pool.
The biophilic design of the spa combines indoor-outdoor spaces linked to landscaped gardens, which adds to the ambience of quiet seclusion. In replacing the previous house, the sustainable credentials will be significantly improved, with a highly insulated building fabric, passive ventilation and a ground source heat pump.
