In the September 2022 issue, HollandGreen co-founder Stephen Green delves into the Studio’s approach to multidisciplinary design in ensuring a smooth and holistic journey for beautifully crafted homes and gardens.

When Stephen Green and Ben Holland founded HollandGreen in 2010, they started a new approach to residential design under two guiding principles.

Firstly, to create a process where the early stages get the time and focus needed to uncover the design vision unique to each client. “Investing this time at the beginning – how our clients live, interact, how they move through the spaces and what’s really important to them – this sets the project up for success and pays back dividends in beautifully detailed design, project milestones met and budget accuracy” says Stephen Green.

Secondly, the two founders wanted to do things better than the norm, offering an unrivalled client experience where collaboration, discretion and supportive project management are at the heart of the design and build journeys.

Over a decade on and HollandGreen is now considered the multidisciplinary residential Practice – where architects, interior designers, landscape designers and project managers work in parallel as part of the same studio.

“Our team shares a passion for delivering inspirational architecture, beautifully curated interior design and thoughtful landscape design. The initial creative thinking between the disciplines is where the gem of the whole design begins” Green continues.

He adds, “One of our early clients told us our creative solution had ‘transformed their lives’, and this aspiration pervades across the team.  Our approach is friendly and open-minded; we’ve developed some real friendships with clients and have gone on to design and run projects for their family and friends.”
