Ash House a Finalist in Large House of the Year at the British Homes Awards 2020
We are delighted to announce that Ash House was a finalist in the Large House of the Year category in the nationally-acclaimed awards that honour the best in house building across the industry.
The panel of leading judges looked for entries that demonstrate innovation in design and delivery, originality, and essentially how a design brief has been brought to life.
The judges said that even in this turbulent time, the competition was extremely tough with an incredible number of submission and an exceptionally high calibre of projects, and we are thrilled that this special house has been recognised in this way.
About Ash House
Ash House is a contemporary new-build home located close to Henley-on-Thames, within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Key to its vision was creating a building that respected but did not mimic the local vernacular – through its choice of materials, its form and its proportions – as well as importantly creating a building with sustainability at its core. The brief was to create a building that was unmistakably contemporary but one that sat well within its surroundings.
The building utilises a number of sustainable technologies across its energy systems (such as ASHP, MVHR, Solar PV and Heat Stores), ensuring that the building is respectful of its environment and minimal in its reliance on conventional energy sources.
Ash House successfully meets our clients’ aspirations to create a home that is both beautiful and innovative in its use of sustainable technology. Whilst being unmistakably contemporary, it is a modern interpretation of the local vernacular and rooted within its context.
