Finance Director

ROLE:   5 days full-time

LOCATION:   Flexible, hybrid working between our Thame Studio in Oxfordshire and some home working

REPORTS TO:   The Partners

SALARY:   Dependent on Experience

HollandGreen is a renowned residential Design Practice with a team of 50 talented individuals and associated entities including Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Design, and Project Management. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to join us and contribute to our continued success and growth.

Job Summary 

The Finance Director will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the financial health of the company, and providing strategic insights to drive business growth. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in finance, as well as the ability to manage operations and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the Practice.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of financial strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, rate setting, financial reporting, payroll and tax compliance
  • Prepare and present timely and accurate financial information to the management team
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities
  • Oversee cash flow management and ensure adequate liquidity for operations

 

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Partners and senior management team to develop long-term strategic plans
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and profitability, and guide business decisions
  • Evaluate potential investments, funding and new business opportunities
  • Develop and implement financial models to support strategic initiatives

 

Operational Management:

  • Work closely with divisional leads (Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Design, and Project Management) to optimise financial performance across all divisions
  • Implement effective cost management and resource allocation strategies
  • Promote team engagement, collaboration and consistency across core systems
  • Oversee the financial aspects of project management, ensuring projects are delivered on budget and within scope
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders

 

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets
  • Input into risk management activities, including insurance coverage
  • Liaise with external Accountants/Auditors to ensure compliance with Financial regulations

 

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment

Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
  • Experience in the architecture or design industry would be beneficial
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools
